The Vallelunga was based on De TomasosFormula One racing technology, and the spider version was first shown as a concept car at the Turin Motor Show in 1963. It entered production two years later, with 53 coupe models built.De Tomaso Mangusta was a sports car from Italian automobile manufacturer De Tomaso between 1967 and 1970, replacing the Vallelunga model. The word "Mangusta" is Latin for "Mongoose". It was De Tomasoshope that the Mangusta would compete favorably with the AC Cobra and other Italian exotic cars.
